ein kleiner Ausblick auf 2019 - und mein Januar-OMG

Auch dieses Jahr will ich wieder versuchen, ein paar UFOs abzubauen. Die Liste ist 2018 kürzer geworden, aber da ist immer noch Potential vorhanden. Ich habe mir wieder eine ToDo-Liste erstellt. Dieses Jahr das erste Mal mit vier Kategorien:

This year, I like to finish more UFOs again. The list of 2018 got shorter, but there are definetily more possibilities. I made a new todo-list - this year with four categories:

- UFOs
- Neue Projekte/new projects
- Rafael
- other stuff

Auf der Seite der UFOs finden sich einige Groß-Projekte, wie zum Beispiel der Tula Pink City Sampler. Das Top wartet noch aufs Quilting und wird es sicherlich auch noch länger tun, denn einen so großen Quilt schaffe ich im Moment mit unserem Lütten nicht. Aber ich möchte ihn auf jeden Fall selbst quilten.

You can find several big projects, for example my Tula Pink City Sampler. The top is still waiting for its quilting. I really want to quilt this by myself, but during the next years, it will be to hard to quilt such a big top because of our little man. So, I know by now, there will be some UFOs left behind at this list.

Ein kleines UFO habe ich mir diesen Monat zum OMG gesetzt - mein One Monthly Goal. Es ist der Maiskolben aus Filz für Rafi. Übrigens das einzige UFO neben dem Bettüberwurf für meine Schwester, dass 2018 liegen geblieben ist. Letztes Jahr habe ich ihn im August angefangen - also die Maiskörner jedenfalls. Jetzt zwischen den Jahren habe ich weiter mit der Hand genäht.

One little UFO will be my this month's OMG. It will be a corncob made by felt. by the way the only UFO, beside my sister's bed quilt, I made last year. It's been started in August. Between the years, I could sew a little bit more by hand.

Für die Blätter habe ich jedoch eine Nähmaschine benötigt. Die Chance mal wieder die "Bernina record 830" meiner Mutter zu nutzen. Nur leider ließ sich der Fuß nicht absenken. Der Hebel hat einfach nicht gegriffen und die Stange blieb oben. Ich tippe darauf, dass sich da etwas verharzt und damit verklebt hat. Die Wärme der Glühbirne hat leider nicht ausgereicht, sie wieder zu lösen. Habt ihr eine Idee?

For the leaves, I needed a sewing machine. The best chance was to use my mom's "Bernina record 830". Unfortunatelly, it didn't work. I could lower the sewing food. The hand gear doesn't grip the stick. I think, the stick is gummy. Do you have any ideas how to loosen it or other ideas, which problem could be the reason for this?

Da die NäMa gestreikt hat, musste ich darauf warten wieder meine NäMa nutzen zu können. Gestern habe ich dann schon mal die Blätter genäht und nun muss ich noch alles per Hand annähen. Das ist ja überhaupt nicht mein Ding, aber nun gut. Tschakka! Damit könnte dann auch das erste UFO des Jahres geschafft sein. Auf jeden Fall ein Anfang.

So, I had to wait until being back home. Yesterday, I've sewn the leaves. Now, they are waiting to be sewn onto the cop by hand. That's totally not my favorite work to do. Tschakka! Being my OMG for January, it could be my first finished UFO.

Wochenendnähen

Am Sonntag hatte ich Besuch von meiner Freundin Isa. Sie ist seit ein paar Wochen stolze Besitzerin einer Janome Anniversary. - Habt ihr schon mal erlebt, dass eure Männer euch zwingen, eine NäMa zu kaufen? Ihr ist es passiert! *gg* - Als erstes Projekt hat sie eine Abdeckung für ihre mobile Wäschespinne genäht. Ich brauchte ihr nur beim Tunnelzug ein wenig helfen und das Ergebnis ist super geworden. Am Sonntag, war sie zur Fertigstellung mit ihrer NäMa dann bei mir und wir haben zusammen ein wenig genäht. Ich finde, sie macht das wirklich gut und ich musste ihr nur ganz wenig helfen. Von der Abdeckung habe ich leider keine Aufnahmen gemacht, aber dafür vom zweiten. Sie hat nämlich für ihren Freund eine kleine Tasche genäht, in dem er Asperin, Pflaster etc. aufbewahren kann. Da ich ja nun nicht mehr mit ihm das Büro teile, fehlt ihm und den Kollegen nämlich die "Haus- und Hofapotheke vom Dienst". ;) Das hat sie doch super hinbekommen, oder?

On Sunday, my friend Isa visited us. She is the proud new owner of a Janome Anniversary. - Did you ever heard of a man, who forced you to buy a sewing machine? It happened to her! *gg* - Her ever first project was a coverage for a mobile rotary clothes drier. I only needed to help her a little bit with the drawstring at the bottom and the result is really perfect. On Sunday, she came with her sewing machine to finish it and I really had to help only a little bit. I didn't take a picture, but of the second one. She'd sewn a little purse for her boyfriend to store some headache pills, band-aids and so on. Because I'm not working any longer, the "pharmacy to the court" is missing to my collegues. ;) She did a really great job, didn't she?

Ich habe in der Zwischenzeit angefangen, ein altes Ufo aufzuarbeiten. Es ist ein Kursprojekt und ich will daraus noch ein Kissen machen. Die Vorderseite ist zum minimalistischen Quilten bereit. Wenn es fertig ist, zeige ich es euch.

I started to clear my UFO stash. It's an old class project and will make a pillow out of it. The top is nearly finished and ready for the planned minimalistic quilting. I will show it, when it's finished.

Am Donnerstag habe ich noch für die Erstausstattung von Isas Nähutensilien schnell ein Nadelkissen genäht. Sie hatte es sich gewünscht und aus meinen Resten ein paar Stöffchen rausgesucht. Es war in max. 5min genäht.

On Thursday, I've sewn a little needle cusion for Isa's basic sewing equipment. She wished it and searched for the fabrics in my scrap stash. It was finished in under 5min.

 

Sie hat mich wieder!

Yeah! Heute habe ich es geschafft! Nach Wochen der Abstinenz war ich heute das erste Mal wieder an meiner Nähmaschine. Erst einmal mustte ich mich zu ihr durchkämpfen, denn mein Kreativzentrum sieht momentan noch eher nach einer explodierter Abstellkammer aus. *gg*

Yeah! Today, I did it! After weeks of abstinence I reached my sewing machine again. But first, I had to struggle through all the stuff in my creative center, because at the moment, it looks like an exploded storeroom. *gg*

Nach 10 cm war dann auch gleich der Unterfaden leer... WO IST MEIN GARN???? Hilfe???!!! Natürlich im letzten Karton. Uff! Gefunden! Dann mal los. Die Diva hat sich geziert und ein wenig gezickt, aber mit etwas Streicheleinheiten läuft sie jetzt wie eine Eins und ich habe wieder gequiltet.

After 4" of quilting, the bobbin was emty.... WHERE ARE MY THREADS?????? Help???!!!! Of course I found them in the last box. Uff! Found! Let's go! The diva acted a little bit coyly, but after some strokes she is running wonderful and I started quilting again.

Heute ist der Tag der Nähmaschine

Wusstet ihr, dass es einen Tag der Nähmaschine gibt? Der ist laut dem Taschenkalender meiner Mutter heute. Und da wir dieses Wochenende bei meinen Eltern zu Besuch sind und meine Diva daheim geblieben ist, musste die gute alte Nähmaschine meiner Mutter ran. Ok, ich hatte das schon geplant, weil mein Mann heute unterwegs sein wollte und ich noch für nächstes Wochenende kleine Mitbringsel brauchte. Also hatte ich Filz, Stoff und Vlisofix eingepackt und was entstanden ist, könnt ihr unten sehen. Meine Mutter besitzt übrigens eine ca. 45 Jahre alte Bernina Record (830). Eine gute alte rein mechanische Maschine. Zwischendurch habe ich sie einmal von Flusen und Dreck befreit und muss ehrlich gestehen: ich war doch etwas überrascht, wie wenig Mechanik notwendig ist, um so viele verschiedene Stiche zu bekommen. Gereinigt schnurrt sie dann auch wieder wie ein kleiner Trecker *gg*. Ein schönes Teilchen, was im Endeffekt fast alles kann, was meine 3 1/2 Jahre alte Maschine auch kann. Nur die Tasten für  "Nadel unten" und "Faden abschneiden" vermisse ich (und ja, ich habe versucht, die nicht vorhandenen Tasten zu drücken *gg*.)

Ach, manche von den kleinen Geschenken gehen noch diese Woche zu Emmas gelbe/orangene Woche und manche sind schon fertig für die weiß/schwarze, die ab Montag startet.

Did you know, there's a Sewing Machine Day? You can see it in the my Mom's calender that''s today. We visited mx parents this weekend and I didn't took my sewing machine with me. So, I had to use my Mom's one. Ok, I had already planned this, because I put some felt, fabric and Vlisofix into my bags, because my husband wanted to stay this day outside and I wanted to have some little presents for next weekend. My Mom has a 45 years old Bernina Record (830). A real nice and well working mechanical sewing machine. During sewing, I had to clean the machine and I must admit, that I was a little bit surprised to sew, that the machine really needs so less parts to create so many different stitches. Cleaned up the machine worked like a little tractor. *gg* A really nice machine that can sew nearly everything, what my 3 1/2 years old machine can sew. I only missed the buttons with "needle down position" and "thread cutting"  (and yes, I tried to push the non-existing buttons. *gg*)

By the way, some ofthe little presents fits the rules for Emma's yellow/orange week and sone of them forthe next week (White/black).

vier leere Spulen später...

... habe ich gedacht, ich hätte schon mal früher putzen sollen. ;) Schaut mal, was sich innerhalb von vier Spulen Aurifil 50/3 in meiner NäMa angesammelt hat. Holla die Waldfee! Merke - nach zwei Spulen reinigen - mindestens nach dreien, auch wenn man, wie in meinem Fall, keine Probleme beim Quilten hat. Ok, kommt ja auch aufs Vlies drauf an und das Garn, aber das war mehr als ich dachte.

After four empty bobbins... I thought, that I should have cleaned up earlier. ;) Have a look, what piled up after four bobbins Aurifil 50/3 into my sewing machine, also if you don't have any problems like me. OMG! So - remember - cleaning after two bobbins - at least after three. Ok, it depends on the batting and the thread, but this was more than I thought it would be.

Und damit ihr auch wisst, womit man vier Bobbins verbraucht, hier mal ein Ausschnitt von meinem einen Ausstellungsquilt. Diesmal von vorne, denn ich muss gestehen - Kreise sind von hinten und nicht Ton-in-Ton mit dem Rückseitenstoff - sehen nicht so schön aus, wie von vorne. ;) Aber ich bin trotzdem sehr zufrieden, dass ich es so hinbekommen habe.

And thereby you know, for what you need four bobbins, here a detail of one of my exhibition quilts. This time from the front, because I have to admit - pebbles don't look very well from the back, if you don't use the same color as the backing - they don't look as good as the front. ;) But I'm totally very pleased about how I got it.

Die Idee zu diesem Mix habe ich übrigens von Angela Walters. Auf Craftsy hat sie mehrere Kurse, die wirklich super sind. Sie zeigt viele Möglichkeiten, wie man gerade große Flächen quilten kann. Es gibt auch einen tollen Kurs zu Federn und sie hat eine tolle Art die Dinge zu erklären.

The idea for mixing the quilting patterns are by Angela Walters. At Craftsy she has some classes, which are really amazing. She shows so many possibilities for quilting big areas - also called negative space. There is also a great class about feathers and she has a great way to explane things.#

Am Montagabend konnte ich die Stoffe von Susanne von Stoffbreite.de aus dem Briefkasten holen. Hach, sind die schön! (Ich hoffe, ich nerve Euch nicht damit, dass ich mich so endlos darüber freuen kann!) Und inzwischen weiß ich auch, was ich daraus nähen werde. Meine NäMa benötigt unbedingt eine Schlafdecke für die Nacht (also eine Abdeckung). Und der süße Häschenstoff wird einmal vorne quer drüber gehen.

They arrived... and I'm still so happy about it! :D
Monday evening the fabrics laid in my post box. Oh, they are so beautiful! (I hope, I won't annoy you, that I'm still so happy about it!) And in the meantime, I know, what I will sew with them. My sewing machine needs a blanket for the night (so a cover). And the cute bunny-fabric will be positioned right in the front across the front.

Nachlieferung, noch mehr Täschchen und naja, schaut selbst...

Heute Morgen musste ich erst einmal meinen NYB-Block vom September nachliefern - also nähen. Dieses Mal in grün.
Today in the morning I had to deliver in addition/sew my September's NYB-block. This time in green.

Und so sehen meine vier Blöcke bis jetzt zusammen aus. So fleißig wie Alexandra war ich leider nicht.
And this is how my four blocks look at the moment. I wasn't as much busy as Alexandra.

Und dann habt ihr sicherlich bei Alexandra die süßen KrimsKrams-Taschen gesehen, oder? Nein?! Dann schnell ***hier*** schauen. Ich musste da heute auch gleich drei nähen. Eigentlich für meine Geschenkekiste, aber bei den Stoffen weiß ich gar nicht, ob ich die hergeben mag/kann. *ggg*
And you have surely seen the cute bits and peaces bags by Alexandra, don't you? No?! So, quickly have a look ***here***. I had to sew some immideatly. Actuatly they should find their way into my present-box, but because of the fabrics, I don't know, if I like to/can give them away. *ggg*

Beim Nähen musste ich feststellen, dass ich manchmal einfach zu blöd bin und meine Diva ganz schön viel Kraft hat. Meine Füßchen und Helferlein mussten heute auf jeden Fall sehr leiden, weil ich zu wenig Geduld hatte.
During sewing I had to realize, that I am sometimes not the full shilling and my diva is really strong. My feet and my little helpers had to suffer a lot today, because I was to impatiently.

Entzugserscheinungen / withdrawal

Dort werde ich immer mal wieder Links zu Tutorials veröffentlichen und sammeln, die ich selber schon einmal benutzt habe, mir gefallen und/oder in einem meiner Posts auftauchen. Ich hab mich selber geärgert, dass ich meine eigenen Verlinkungen nicht mehr gefunden habe - deswegen will ich sie jetzt einfach sammeln. Wenn ein Link nicht mehr funktioniert, gebt mir bitte Bescheid!

Bei mir hat heute ungewollt die Fastenzeit angefangen - das Nähmaschinen-Fasten... Heute habe ich meine Nähmaschine zur Wartung und Reparatur gebracht - und ich habe keine Ersatzmaschine. Und jetzt sieht mein Nähplatz irgendwie merkwürdig aus und ich muss gestehen, extrem unordentlich. In den letzten Tagen habe ich ja noch schnell ein paar Täschchen genäht und die Stoffe und Sachen sind liegen geblieben. Naja, dann habe ich wenigstens was tun, bis meine Elisabeth Taylor hoffentlich wohlbehalten wiederkommt.

I started an unintended fasting period - the sewing machine fasting period... Today I took away my sewing machine for inspection and repair - and I don't have an alternative. And now, my working space looks a bit strange and I must admit, extremly messy. During the last days, I've sewn some little bags and the fabrics and other things just remain. Ok, so I have something to do until my Elisabeth Taylor will hopefully safely returns.

Ich muss eh mal mein Ordnungssystem (ok, teilweise frage ich mich, ob ich da überhaupt eines habe, aber ich finde alles wieder... *gg*) überarbeiten. Das ist jetzt die Chance! Und meine Stoffe brauchen auch mal wieder eine Sichtung. Da war es gar nicht gut, dass der Nähmaschinenladen auch Stoffe führt... Aber wisst ihr was? In dem Laden gab es noch meinen einen Lieblingsstoff (den rot-schwarz-weiße unten rechts), den ich sonst nirgends mehr bekommen habe - da habe ich gleich den ganzen Rest vom Ballen gekauft. Ich glaube, da gibt es noch einmal eine kleine Schnabelina-Bag. Und habt ihr die Katzenstoffe gesehen? Süß, oder?

In any case I have to overwork my organization (ok, partially I ask myself, if I have an organization at all, but I always find everything... *gg*). This is my chance! And my fabrics need some overview, too. There it wasn't good at all, that the sewing machine shops also leads fabrics... And do you know? This shop had one of my favorite fabric (the red-black-white one at the bottom down), which I hadn't found anywhere anymore - I bought the whole rest of the bale. I think, I will sew another little Schnabelina-bag. And have you seen the cat-fabrics? Cute, aren't they?

Und hier noch einmal ein Täschchen. Das geht morgen an seine neue Besitzerin - ebenfalls als Notfallset für unterwegs.

And here another little bag. This will going to its new owner tomorrow - also as an emergency-bag for on the way.

Fritzis Wiese und Maschinenquilten

Letzten Montag hat Fritzi seine Wiese bekommen und kommt jetzt die Tage an die Wohnungstür. Irgendwie muss ich immer grinsen, wenn ich den kleinen Hüpfer sehe.

Last Monday, Fritzi got his grassland and will be hang up to the door of flat. I have to grin everytime I see this little hopper.

In der vergangenen Woche war ich beruflich unterwegs. Erst drei Tage in Österreich, dann noch einen Tag nach Berlin. Also bin ich nicht an meine NäMa gekommen. Aber ich habe in den Tagen ein paar Mal mit Nana geschrieben und dabei versprochen, mal Bilder von den Maschinenquiltkursen zu zeigen, die ich hier in Stuttgart in meinem Lieblingsladen mitgemacht habe. Das erste Mal habe ich 2011 mit meiner alten NäMa an dem Kurs teilgenommen. Wir haben ein Probesandwich mit neun Mustern gequiltet. Die ersten Muster waren noch mit dem Transporteur, ab dem dritten dann ohne mit entsprechenden Füßchen. Natürlich hatten wir auch noch kleine Sandwichs, auf dem wir die ersten Übungen ohne Transporteur genäht haben. Am Ende des Kurses habe ich dann schon meine Schnucke gequiltet.

During the last week, I was on tour job-related. First three days to Austria, then one day in Berlin. So, I hadn't any time to use my sewing machine. But I wrote to Nana and I promised to show some pictures of the freemotion-quilting-classes at my favourite shop. The first time, I took class in 2011 with my old sewing machine. We made an excample sandwich with nine different quilting patterns. The first one were sewn with the feeder, from the third one without the feeder with the freemotion feed. Surely, we had some little sandwiches, at which we tried the first exercises without the feeder. At the end, I quilted my moorland sheep.

Ein Jahr später habe ich noch einmal an dem Kurs teilgenommen - dieses Mal mit meiner Diva. Da es ja mein zweites Mal war, hatte ich eine kleine Decke entworfen. Leah Day hatte zu der Zeit einen kleinen Wholecloth gequiltet und ich wollte auch etwas in der Richtung machen. Naja, ein Wholecloth ist es nicht, dafür ist es ja viel zu farbig, aber ich mag es. Während des Kurses ist die Regulierung der Oberfadenspannung kaputt gegangen, so dass ich den Kurs leider nicht voll ausnutzen konnte. Jetzt liegt das gute Stück seit zwei Jahren rum und ich muss es mal fertig quilten. In der Zwischenzeit habe ich viele andere Dinge gequiltet. Aber als UFO kann es ja auch nicht ewig liegen bleiben.

One year later, I took class again - this time with my diva. Because making this class for the second time, I designed a little top. Leay Day had quilted a little wholecloth at this time and I wanted to made something like this, too. Ok! It's not a real wholecloth, because there is to much colour on it, but I like it. During this class, the regulation of the needle thread tension broke down, so I couldn't use the full time. Now, the piece lies about for two years and I have to make it finished. In the meantime I quilted many other things. But as an UFO it cannot be left any longer.

 

 

 

 

 

Wartet auf mich.../Wait for me...

... ich bin ein wenig spät, aber ich will auch noch zu der Hasenparade von Sigisart! Darf ich mich kurz vorstellen? Meine Name ist "Fritzi" und im Gegensatz zu meinen Mit-Hüpfern bin ich mit der NäMa gestickt worden. Der Stickfaden war in der Unterfadenspule und oben ein Monofil-Garn. Damit war ich eine kleine Überaschung für meine "Mama"! Ich soll noch einen grünen Rahmen und Aufhänger bekommen. Da bin ich schon sehr gespannt!

Ich wünsche Euch ein Frohes Osterfest und ganz viele Ostereier!

... I'm a little late, but I would like to come to the bunny-parade of Sigisart! May I introduce myself? My name is "Fritzi" and in contrast to my hopping friends I was stiched with the sewing machine. The stitching-thread (is this the right word?) was put into the bobbin case and a monofil-thread into the upper thread. So, I was a little surprise for my "mom"! I shall become a green border and hooks. I'm so excited!
