Schafe über Schafe

Letztens habe ich euch doch gezeigt, dass ich für Rafael ein Wandpanel angefangen habe zu quilten. Es ist fertig und seit ein paar Minuten hängt es auch an der Wand im Kinderzimmer neben der Wickelkommode. Das Panel hat "leider" eine Inch-Skala und keine in "cm". Daher werde ich einfach kleine Stoffschilder besticken und dann mit Datum und die Größe von Rafael in "cm" an das Panel heften. Gequiltet habe ich recht wenig, da ich nicht Gefahr laufen wollte, dass das Quilting das Panel nicht allzu sehr einlaufen lässt. Gequiltet habe ich mit meinen Lieblingsgarnen King Tut und Aurifil.

Some days ago, I showed you, that I'd started to quilt a fabric-panel for Rafael. It's finished and since some minutes, it's hanging at the wall in his room beside the baby changing table. The fabric has "unfortunately" a inch-scale and no "cm". So, I will made some fabric labels with the date of measuring and Rafael's size in "cm" to pin at the panel. I quilted less so the fabric wouldn't shrink by quilting. I quilted with my favorite threads King Tut and Aurifil.

Und da ich gerade dabei war, habe ich übers Kinderbett auch gleich noch ein Bild aufgehängt. Ich habe es vor Jahren mit Kreiden gemalt und das Bild auf den Rahmen entsprechend "erweitert". Es hing früher in unserer Stube und jetzt soll es Rafael begleiten.

And because I had already open my toolbox, I also hung up a picture. I draw it some years ago with crayon and "extended" the picture onto the frame. On our old apartment it hung in our living room, but now, it shall attend Rafael.

 

Paspel nähen (noch) leicht(er) gemacht

Fast jede von uns hat bestimmt schon mal eine Paspel selber genäht und dabei den Reißverschlussfuss verwendet. Im Moment bin ich ja einige Stunden am Tag mit dem Stillen von unseren kleinen Raupe Nimmersatt beschäftigt und ich muss gestehen, dass ich da doch etwas Input von außen brauche, auch wenn es immer wieder faszinierend ist, den Kleinen dabei zu beobachten, wie er genüßlich trinkt als ob er gerade ein 3*-Menü zu sich nimmt. *gg* Und da ich ein Fan von Craftsy bin (für die, die davon noch nichts gehört haben: Craftsy.com ist eine amerikanische Online-Kurs-Platform mit super Kursen und Pattern zum Thema Quilten, Nähen, Stricken, Kochen, Backen und und und), habe ich mir mal wieder einen Online-Kurs angesehen. Es gibt ja auch einige, die nichts kosten und einer davon ist "Janome Machine Savvy". Dort werden für verschiedene Janome-Nähmaschinen verschiedene Nähtechniken vorgestellt. U.a. das Nähen von Paspeln mit dem Perlenfuß-Set. Ich besitze dieses Set auch und muss gestehen, dass es - bis jetzt - zu den Füßchen gehörte, die unter "Nice to have but not necessary" lief. Aber jetzt weiß ich, wofür sie wirklich sinnvoll sind: Paspeln herstellen und einnähen!

Nearly everyone of us has already sewn a piping by herself with the zipper-foot. At the moment, I'm occupied with breast-feeding for several hours per day and I must admit, I need some input from outside, although it's totally fascinating to watch the little boy drinking with pleasure like he were eating a 3* dinner. *gg* And because I'm a huge fan of Craftsy, I'm sometimes watching a online-class. There are several for free and one of them is "Janome Machine Savvy". There you can learn some sewing methods for some Janome sewing machines. Beneath others sewing a piping with the perl-foot-set. I've bought these feet and must admit, until now, they were "nice to have but not necessary"for me. But now, they make sense to me: Sewing piping and running them in!

Durch die Rille, in der die Schnurr der Paspel läuft, hat man eine perfekte Führung. Selbst beim Einnähen der Paspel zwischen zwei Lagen Stoff - fand ich bis jetzt immer nicht sooooo einfach sie passgenau einzunähen - ist der Fuß extrem praktisch. Und bei meinem aktuellen Projekt für Rafael habe ich die Methode gleich eingesetzt. Jetzt versuche ich peu-á-peu das kleine Panel zu quilten. Das geht nur, wenn Rafael in Ruhe schläft und dabei nicht bei mir im Tragetuch ist. Mühsam ernäht sich also das Schäfchen ... äh ... Eichhörnchen. :)

Because of the crease, in which the string runs, you have a perfect guidance. Also when you sew the piping between two fabrics - until now, it wasn't the easiest part for me - it's also a perfect little helper. I used this method instantly on my new project for Rafael. Now, I'm trying to quilt this little panel step by step. That's only possible, when Rafael is sleeping calm and not on me in the wrap.

Mord - nicht nur in Ilhorn

Habt ihr Nanas Post zu ihrem ersten Wholecloth-Kurs gelesen - "Mord in Ilhorn"? Ich war live dabei - beim Kurs und beim "Mordanschlag". *gg*

Have you read Nana's post about her first wholecloth-course - "Murder in Ilhorn"? I was there - at the course and the "attemted murder". *gg*

Und ich habe das Gefühl, das war ansteckend, denn bei meinen Eltern daheim - nur 40km von Ilhorn entfernt - ist der nächste "Mordanschlag" passiert. Eine Klinge vom Rollschneider hat sich beim Wechseln selbstständig gemacht und ich bin froh, dass weder unsere alte Katze noch mein Fuß im Weg war.

And I have the feeling that was infecting, because at my parents' home - only 40km from Ilhorn - there happened the next "attemted murder". A blade of a roller cutter made oneself scare during switching and I'm happy, that it didn't hit our old cat or my foot.

Aber nun erst einmal zum Anfang des Wochenendes  - eines langen Wochenendes! Am Donnerstag hatte ich schon frei und bin hoch gefahren. Freitag Vormittag hatte ich dann endlich mal die Chance nach Uelzen in den dortigen Patchworkladen zu fahren. Seit Jahren versuche ich zu StoffArt zu kommen und immer ist es an Wochenenden und Feiertagen gescheitert. Aber den Freitag hat es nun endlich geklappt! Und wie es geklappt hat! Der Laden passt genau in mein Beuteschema - sehr zum Nachteil für meinen Geldbeutel. Uff! Aber die Stoffe waren - nein sind! - soooo schön und so tolle Knöpfe, Webbänder, Garne etc.

But now let's start with the beginning of the weekend - such a long weekend! My first free working day was Thursday and I drove home to my parents this day. Friday morning I had the chance to drive to the quilt shop in Uelzen. Since years I try to come to StoffArt and everytime I tried the shop was closed for the weekend or because of some holiday. But this Friday all fits! And it worked like a charm! The shop is my predatory-pattern - to my regret of my purse. Uff! But the fabrics were - no are! - sooooo beautiful and such nice buttons, woven ribbon, threads etc.

So gar nicht dran vorbeigehen konnte ich an diesen zwei Paneelen. Auf dem einen sind Teile für eine Einkaufstasche aufgedruckt inkl. Anleitung! Das habe ich mit meiner Mutter gleich dreimal gekauft - zwei Taschen sind schon bei meiner Mutter und meiner Schwester gelandet, die übriegns am Sonntag da war und wir hatten einen schönen und lustigen Mädelstag. Und das andere wird einmal ein Paneel zum Größemessen - mit Schafen. Sooooooo süß!!!! Sooooooo knuffig!!!! Und das meine Kinder dann halt in Inches gemessen werden müssen, ist mir egal. Denn die Schafe sind soooooo süß! Ich liebe diese Stoffreihe. Ich habe schon seit längerem ein Paneel für eine Krabbeldecke und nun das noch. Einfach super süß!!! Naja und dann gab es halt noch so - naja - ein, zwei Stöffchen etc. *hust*

I couldn't resist this two panels. One of them has printed bag-parts on it and the tutorial for a carrier bag! I bought it three times with my mom - two of them are already at my mom's and my sister's home, which met us at Sunday for a funny girls-day. And the other panel will be a piece to measure kid's height - with sheeps. Soooooo cute!!!! Sooooo nice!!!! And that my children will be measured in inch doesn't concern me. Because sheeps are soooooooo cute! I love this fabric line! I have a panel for a baby-quilt for a longer time. Just cute!!!! Ok, and there are some - ok - one, two fabrics and co, too. *snort*

Und nun endlich zu dem, was Euch wahrscheinlich viel mehr interessiert als dieses Extrem-Shoppen. *gg* der Wholecloth-Kurs bei Nana. Ich kannte Nana bis dahin nur von ihrem Blog und E-Mails. Den Grundlagenkurs habe ich nicht gemacht, so wie zwei andere Damen auch. Wir waren übrigens insgesamt sechs Mädels plus Nana. Jede hat was zu Essen bzw. Trinken mitgebracht und wir waren alle total gespannt, was wir denn so alles lernen würden. Verstanden haben wir uns auf Anhieb - irgendwie schon was tolles unter Quilterinnen - man versteht sich eigentlich immer und Zickereien habe ich auch noch nicht wirklich bei Kursen erlebt. Nana hat uns dann am Freitag erst einmal gaaaaanz viel Theorie beigebracht. Was für Arten gibt es denn, auf was soll man achten, was benutzt man am Besten für einen Wholecloth, wo bekommt man Ideen her und setzt sie um und sooo viel mehr! Nana hat es so toll vorbereitet und kann wirklich gut erklären. Wir haben viele Beispiele gesehen - natürlich von Nana selbst gequiltet. und dann durften wir schon mal überlegen, was wir denn so machen wollen und welchen Stoff und welches Garn dafür genutzt werden sollte. Eigentlich sollte es am Freitag "nur" bis 21h00 gehen und Sis und ich hatten schon geplant, uns mal über Aachen und Umgebung auszutauschen (sie kommt aus der Nähe und arbeitet dort und ich habe dort studiert), aber auf einmal war es 23h00. Da sind wir dann doch einfach ins Bett gehüpft und haben uns um 8h00 wieder allesamt zum Frühstück getroffen. Und dann ging es los - Nähmaschinen raus und losquilten - nur quilten! Hat das einen Spaß gemacht und die Zeit bis zum Ende war leider viel zu schnell vorbei. Jetzt muss ich aber (leider *gg*) erst einmal meine Quilts für die Ausstellung fertig machen und dann kann ich sicherlich am Wholecloth weiterarbeiten - aber ausnahmsweise muss ich mich mal wirklich an eien bestimmte Reihenfolge halten (ok, (kleine) Ausnahmen bestätigen ja bekanntlich die Regel *gg*). Also bis bald - es gibt noch viel zu berichten und erzählen. - Und danke fürs Durchhalten!!!! :D

And now, finally, here comes this, what you are surely waiting for than the extrem-shopping. *gg* the wholecloth-course by Nana! I knew until that weekend Nana by her blog and e-mails. I didn't took part at her basic course - like two other ladies, either. By the way, we were six ladies plus Nana. Everyone brought something to eat and something to trink and we all were soooo excited about what we would learn. We all got on with each other so well (anyway something great between quilters - you get on with nearly each other and no bitching at all). Nana tought us the whole Friday the theory. What kinds of wholecloths are there, what you will have to look to, what is best to use for a wholecloth, where to get the ideas for a wholecloth and how to implement them and soooo much more! Nana was so well prepared and can really explane very well. We saw many examples - of course all made by Nana and could think about what we want to quilt and which fabric and thread we would like to use. Actually we wanted to finish at Friday at 21h00 and Sis and I, we had already planed to talk about Aachen and surroundings (she lives beneath Aachen and works there and I had studied there), but suddenly it was 23h00. So, we just jumped into our beds, so we could meet us at 8h00 in the morning for breakfast. And then we could start - sewing machine on the tables and start quilting! That was so much fun to do and the time until the end just flewed away. But now I will have (unfortunately *gg*) to finish my quilts for the exhibition and than I can surely work on my wholecloth again - but for once I really have to follow the list (ok, (little) execption make the rules *gg*).
