kleine Geschenke - teilweise in Rot
We are on the go to Hamburg. At our way to the airport I will make a little stop at a mail box and send some gifts (little puches, mugrugs, sweets and more) on their way. Some of the little fabrics are red and pink. So I can jump to Emma's Red Week and link up. And now, I will say good-bye to Hamburg and wish you a nice (long) week-end!

Another mugrug... but also my first one. Do you remember the time over new year? I couldn't sit at the sewing machine, so I tried a little bit the English Paper Piecing method. It should have been a little Christmas gift for a good friend of mine. Tomorrow we will meet each other since that time, so the mugrug should be finished. I wanted to finish it at the weekend, but I clued to the sewing machine. ;) But now , I finished it this evening. Hurriing up for the finish, I sewed the label the top to bottom.

der nächste (schnelle) Mugrug
This week a very good friend of mine came to visit us. I know since our 4th grade and so, she is my "oldest" friend. Our favourite slogan: "Esther, we are old!" - This became a running gag for us. I wanted to sew her a purse, because she uses a plastic bag for her shower utensils - you cannot see this as a real quilter, can you?! But she didn't want one. She thinks, she won't use it. *gg* So, I sewed her a mugrug. She choosed this yellow fabric and with the help of my color-wheel, I selected the pink and violet one, because she loves this colors, too.
By this a fast mugrug (I needed only two hours) appeared. The pattern, I like very much. The idea is by Gloria Loughman and her book "Radiant Landscapes".
Glora ha a great way to create the background, which I liked to try out for a long time. And because yellow and violet fit with green, I used it as the background fabric. The diamonds are made by 1" stripes. The grate has been scetched with a heat disappearing pen and the diamonds are temporarly glued to it. The thread is a King Tut one. It contains alle fabric colors and by the first lines I really forgot the back. But this doesn't ruin the function. ^^ And Esther loves it. And this is the main issue!

Tauschaktion
Lintlady Doris got some beautiful cat-fabric by Sigrid and made some lavendel cusion. Ok, and because I like them very much, Doris proposed a little swap. So I got a super cute lavender cusion (did you ever seen a button with three holes?) and tomorrow a mugrug in Doris' favorite colors blue-white-turquoise will go on his way to her. I hope Doris, the anticaption is still there and you like your mugrug.
And do you know what I don't like and what - although I really understand the principle - drives me crazy? The binding! I don't like it when the seam is flatwise the edge - it has to be in a 45° angle. And then you have to lay the stripes the right way onto each other. Normally it works without problems, but today I turned them around a way I could only rip the seam and start again. *grrr* Furtunately I took to cut the overlapping fabric only if I'm sure, that it works.
The binding itselfs - I love it! The additional accent of the second small stripe is beautiful, isn't it? The principle isn't difficulty. You need two stripes, which are sewn together. Before this you have to think about the width of the visible second stripe. So you know how width the second stripe has to be and can fit it. After this you divide the stripe in half lengthwise and then you sew it to the back of your sandwich (and this is different to a normal binding).

mein erster Mugrug
