Am Wochenende habe ich ja einen Kurs bei Uschi im Laden gemacht. Der Titel: Farbstudien. Den ersten Vormittag haben wir erst einmal Theorie "gebüffelt". Erste Aufgabe: Lege einen Farbkreis aus deinen eigenen mitgebrachten Stoffen. Gar nicht so einfach. Irgendwie fehlt immer einer und wir haben fleißig hin und her getauscht.

Last weekend I took part to a course at Uschi's shop. The topic: studies of color. The first morning we had to "swot" theory. First task: Laying a color-wheal of your own fabrics. It's not as simple as we thought first. Anyhow there is a fabric missing and we swapped a lot.

Zweite Aufgabe: Alle Stoffe so sortieren, dass sie harmonisch in einander übergehen und kleine Schnipsel aufkleben.

Second task: Sorting all fabrics, so they go over smoothly and clueing little itsy-bitsy snippet.

Und dann ging es richtig los. Nähmaschinen raus und ein paar Arten von Kontraste zusammenstellen.

And then it begins. Sewing machine out and putting tpgether some kinds of contrats.

Monochrom - monochrome

Warm-Kalt - warm-cold

hell-dunkel - schaut mal, wie die Diagonale die komplette Wirkung verändert.//light-dark - look, how the twisted diagonal changes the total impression.

Farb-in-sich - color-itself

Das sind noch nicht alle Kontraste, die es so gibt. Ich werde mir auf jeden Fall noch das Buch von Itten "Kunst der Farbe" kaufen. Er beschreibt sehr anschaulich die Wirkung von Farben und Kontrasten.

These aren't all contrasts. I will surely buy the book by Itten "Art of color". He describes very clearly the effect of colors and contrasts.

Und die letzte Aufgabe war, sich ein Bild zu nehmen, es zu analysieren und aus den Farben ein neues Bild zu kreieren. Es sollte nicht das Originalbild sein, sondern komplett neues. Ich habe diese Frosch-Postkarte genommen. Es hat so viel Spaß gemacht, das Bild zu analysieren und ich mag das Ergebnis. Zuerst habe ich 2.5"-Quadrate genommen und sie wild durcheinander wieder zusammengenäht. Dann wieder frei auseinander geschnitten und neu zusammengenäht.

Our last challange was to take a picture we like because of the colors, analyse it and take the colors within fabrics and build a new picture. It shouldn't be the original picture, but a really new one. I took a postcard of a frog. It made so much fun to analyze the picture and I like the result. First I took 2,5"-squares of the colors of the postcard and put them together in an unsorted way. Then cut it apart in a free way and sew it together again.
