Schottland V - Fortrose & Highland Games

Do you still like to see some? Some pictures from Scotland? I hope so, otherwise you can next me. ;o)

After our long trip to Skye, we concentrated on the vicinity. The peninsula "Black Isle", where the Netherton Farm is situated, has so many beautiful places to be. In the South - directly vis-à-vis to Fort George - at a strait and on a little headland, there is Fortrose. It's a little town with a lond beach, a really old church ruin, a lighthouse and with a little bit of luck, you can see some dolphins swimming in front of the lighthouse. This day, we didn't see some of them, but some seals, who scrimmaged in the firth.

In the afternoon we visited the Highland Games in Inverton. I was a little one in a industrial area, but Highland Games "all inclusive". There've been contest for bagpiper and Scottish dance and THE Highland Games like trunk jerking. The athletes wore kilts, but ...!!!... they've worn something underneath!!! But that was ok, because during THIS kind of movements, you would have get "too much information". *ggg* It was a great event and the band played very well.

In the evening we drove to Cromarty. A really cute village with many nice little houses - and then you see some oil-rigs in the harbour - just about 100m from the bank! That's really surreal, I can tell you! So, we drove to Fortrose and made some picture experiments. *gg* I just say: Michelangelo!

Schottland IV - Isle of Skye

Today, I like to show you some pictures of Scotland. I hope, you are ready. Take some tea and cookies. It could take some time. ;)

At my birthday, we wanted to visit Isle of Skye. During the forward run there were suddenly some single track roads (Yeah, I know. There are some to a lot in Scotland.) and I think, my husband lost some panic-pounds on it. *gg* At one point, I wanted to look for some sheeps (Did I mention, that I LIKE sheeps? *gg*) and when we arrived at our car, we saw this:

Shit!!!

Shit!!! What a luck, that we choose the "Road Aside Insurence" at the rental station! After about two hours later we had a new tire and could go on our way to Skye.

Unfortunately, we lost nearly three hours by this, so we arrived around 4pm at skye. So, only the short tour around the north peninsula, leaving Portree at our side and up the east-coast to the "Old Man of Storr" - a really fantatstic and interesting geological formation. OMG, it was really stormy - and that was only the beginning.

Diese Landschaft ist einfach atemberaubend.

The landscape is really breathtaking.

Further on we drove up the coast and at one place, we only stopped, because there was a bus and saw so many people running around - and what shall I say? It was soooo much worth. We walk a little path along and reached a cliff. The view was fantastic and the weather was so fast changing, that every 15min the weather changed between sun shining and rain. At one moment a rainbow appeared, which spanned nearly 270°. Unfortunately you cannot really see it at the picture.

Und dann kam es! Das absolute Kitschbild - das Schaf am Ende des Regenbogens. Ich liebe es!

And then I got it - the absolutly kitsch picture - a sheep at the end of the rainbow. I love it!

But we had to go on and we reached the northern top of Skye. There we saw again some sheeps at the street and the view from the cliffs was really amazing.

At the end, we made a little stop at Portree. We didn't see much, but this town looks a little bit like south europe and interesting trees are growing there.

*ggg*

At our way back it was nearly dark, but at one place I had to stop again to take a picture - what a mess for my husband - of a traffic sign, which we have often seen at Skye. Did I mentioned, that I love sheeps? *ggg*

Thank you for hanging on and I hope, your tea didn't got cold. ;)
